Painting Assignment 2: White Objects

September 26, 2008

I just put the finishing touches on the piece I had been working on in class last week. My teacher brought in several different white objects and assigned us certain set ups based on what she thought would challenge us all individually.

I can’t wait until next week when we can actually start using color in our paintings!

Film Stuff

I forgot to mention in my last post that the movie I starred in a few months back was screened at the Palm Film Festival. A Canadian distribution company saw it and is interested in distributing it. Unfortunately there isn’t a trailer for it online yet (I need to talk to them about that!).

However next weekend another film I was in is being screened here in town at the San Diego film festival.  This one is called Flamingo Tango. I don’t have a big role in this one, but I did quite a bit of dancing for it!

Painting Assignment 1: White Object

September 25, 2008

I have been so incredibly busy with school, I have hardly had a chance to get on the computer to do much more than homework!  I have such a busy schedule, I go to school from Monday to Thursday from 9 to 4 everyday. Then I get home and have to do homework. I can’t even begin to explain how horribly messy my home is right now.

This is the most recent work I completed in my painting class. The assignment was to bring in a white object and paint it using only white and black. All I could find around the house that was white were plates. I didn’t think that would make for a very interesting piece, so I went to the thrift store. I found this little owl statue, and brought it home and painted it white. I am semi pleased with how it turned out.

Everything I make turns out so cartoon-y looking! This weekend I have to finish up another black and white painting for class, so expect to see another one up in a day or two or three.

Last weekend Russ and I went with my dad over to the house that he is in the process of buying. It is out in the country, on a huge plot of land. He has a small rosemary plant right outside his front door.  While we were watering we saw this monster! I have never seen a grasshopper this big in San Diego!

Design Project: Lines FINISHED!

September 14, 2008

My weekend has been spent working on this design project, and another one based on shape. I finally finished this one though.

Design Project: Lines

September 11, 2008

Since being in school I have had very little time to cook, or do anything unrelated to school. Because of this, I know the blog has been a bit dull lately. I decided this morning in order to keep it updated regularly I will start posting more about school, and what I am working on.  Up first-a project for my design class. The assignment was to make an image with four types of lines, horizontal, vertical, parallel, and curved. Here is a sneak peak of what I am working on:

After I finish I will let you see the entire thing!

The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics

September 10, 2008

In my design class we have been doing a lot of projects with line qualities. Today while we were working my teacher showed us this little video, which I absolutely love!

Roddy and Kyle’s Wedding

September 1, 2008

This weekend was my brother’s wedding. He and Kyle have been together for four years, and are just the most perfectly matched couple you could ever come across. They had their wedding in New Hampshire, where Kyle went to school, and they are planning on living. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, and a whole lot of fun. I don’t know if I have ever cried so much in my life! I am so happy to have Kyle as a sister in law!

New Hampshire was absolutely gorgeous. So green, with lots of lakes and rivers everywhere.
